Following are the details of training courses; you wish to arrange for your organization.

1. Title: Training on General Environmental Awareness

The Delegates:
This one day course is meant for all levels of organizational staff, who are concern about developing a clean, healthy and safe environment.

Expected Benefits from the Course:
On completion of this course, the delegates will have an understanding of :

  • Impacts of Environmental Pollution in Pakistan.

    Delegate Assessment:
    There will be a formal assessment on this training.

Prior Knowledge Requirements:
No Pre-training knowledge is required.

2. Title: Introduction to Environmental Management Systems ISO 14001

The Delegates:
This two day training is designed for all levels of management, especially those who are responsible for establishing, implementing and maintaining the new and existing systems in their organization.

Expected Benefits from the Course:
On successfully completing the training course, the delegates will have a basic knowledge of all elements/requirements of the EMS ISO 14001 and an appreciation of documented management system to control environment.

They will understand how a company can conform to the requirements of ISO 14001 EMS, the training describes all the elements to comply with this international standard.

Course Structure:
This introductory course will cover the following topics.

  • Overview of the ISO family of Standards
  • Introduction of basic concepts and terminology associated with environmental management.
  • Detailed review of the requirements of EMS ISO 14001:96
  • An introduction to the certification process

    Delegate Assessment:
    There will be a formal assessment during this course.

Prior Knowledge Requirements:
No Pre-training knowledge is required.

3. Title: Introduction to Aspect Identification in EMS ISO 14001

The Delegates:
This one-day course is intended for all those who will be involved in implementation of the environmental management systems.

Expected Benefits from the Course:
At the end of the course the delegates will be familiar with;

  • Fundamental role of the identification and assessment of environmental aspects and impacts;
  • Assessing significance of aspects and impacts;
  • Methods of aspect identification

    Course Structure:
    This interactive course uses a mixture of taught sessions, discussions and practical exercises to achieve its aims. The course is focused to cover:

  • Introduction to environmental aspects and impacts;
  • Identification of the aspects of activities, products and services;
  • Methods of aspect identification including Risk Prioritization method of evaluating the significance of environmental aspects.

    Delegate Assessment:
    There is no examination for this course.

Prior Knowledge Requirements:
Knowledge of general environmental issues/ awareness is desirable.

4. Title: Setting Objectives & Targets & Environmental Management Programs

The Delegates:
This one-day course is designed for all levels of management and especially those responsible for maintaining existing systems.

Expected Benefits from the Course:
The participants will be able to know how to formulate and maintain effective objectives and targets and establish, implement and maintain EMPs for achieving objectives and targets. They will also monitor and measure by reviewing the Environmental Management Programs of the organization and their requirements.

Course Structure:
This course will cover the following topics:

  • Selecting the significant environmental aspects for setting environmental objectives and targets.
  • Proper formats on which objectives and targets to be set and maintained.
  • Evaluation of organization's performance against environmental objectives for the year.
  • How to establish and maintain Environmental Management Programs.

    Delegate Assessment:
    The training does not include any formal delegate assessment.

Prior Knowledge Requirements:
Knowledge of environmental issues is desirable.

5. Title: Internal Auditing of EMS ISO 14001

The Delegates:
This two-day training course is meant for the management staff, responsible for the maintenance of EMS in their organization and carrying out internal EMS audits or coordinating surveillance audits of environmental management systems.

Expected Benefits from the Course:

  • The participants will have an understanding of the introductory background of ISO 14001:96 standard.
  • Purpose and planning of internal audit against a set of audit criteria
  • Successfully execute an environmental management systems audit; including the methodology adopted to audit various elements of an environmental management system.
  • Identify strength and weaknesses of an EMS;
  • Create clear, concise and relevant audit reports;
  • Communicate the audit report to relevant personnel and management.
  • Formulate Environmental Corrective Action Report (ECAR)

    Course Structure:
    This course includes complete details of the verification process or audit, undertaken to obtain audit evidences as to determine whether organizational activities, conditions, and management system conform with the set audit criteria.
    This includes:

  • Formulation of audit plan
  • Methodology to be adopted to obtain objective evidences
  • Responsibility of Audit Team members
  • Formulation of Audit Reports and Corrective Action Reports
  • Presenting Audit Report to the top management.

    Delegate Assessment:
    There is no examination for this course. However, delegates will be assessed on the basis of their progress throughout the course.

Prior Knowledge Requirements:
Some awareness to ISO 9001:2000 & EMS 14001 would be helpful to understand the technical aspects of this course.

6. Title: How to implement effective Environmental Management Systems ISO 14001


The Delegates:
This three-day course is of use to those wishing to establish an environmental management system within their own organization.

Expected Benefits from the Course:
On successfully completing the course, delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the ISO 14001 standard
  • Successfully execute the implementation process of environmental management system

    Course Structure:

  • This course entails a complete implementation process of EMS ISO 14001 in an organization, including:
  • Formulation of Environmental Policy
  • Initial Environmental Review (IER)
  • Setting Environmental Objectives and targets and Environmental Management Programs
  • Compliance to Legal and other requirements
  • Formulation of Core Team & its training for the implementation process
  • EMS Documentation and procedures
  • Checking and Corrective Action of the implemented system and
  • Certification process

Delegate Assessment:
There is no examination for this course. However, delegates will be assessed on the basis of their progress throughout the course.

Prior Knowledge Requirements:

  • A prior knowledge of the requirements of ISO 14001 would be beneficial.
  • An understanding of report writing is desirable;

7. Title: Introduction to Environmental Auditing

The Delegates:
This two-day course is designed for those who:

  • Wish to carry out Environmental auditing and evaluations.
  • Are interested to obtain knowledge of ISO Standards and Guidelines pertaining to environmental auditing.

    Expected Benefits from the Course:

  • On completion of this course, the participants will have an explanation of environmental audits, their purpose and planning, the way in which an effective audit is carried out and reported on.
  • Auditors responsibilities, the required personal and attributes and auditor selection
  • The various tools that are available to assist auditors.

    Course Structure:
    This course includes following topics.

  • Guidelines for environmental auditing-General principles (ISO 14010)
  • Guidelines for environmental auditing-Audit procedures- Auditing of environmental management systems. ( ISO 14011)
  • Guidelines for environmental auditing -Qualification criteria for environmental auditors. (ISO 14012)

    Delegate Assessment:
    Continuous assessment is carried out of delegate performance throughout the theoretical and practical sessions. Successful delegates will be awarded the certificate of achievement.

Prior Knowledge Requirements:

  • An understanding of report writing is desirable.
  • Although not essential, prior auditing experience will be helpful.

8. Title: Environmental Impact Assessment and Initial Environmental Examination

The Delegates:
This one-day course is meant for those who are interested to obtain a detailed knowledge of carrying out environmental assessments and existing environmental assessment Guidelines and procedures.

Expected Benefits from the Course:
The participants will be aware of:

  • How an IEE/EIA report is prepared
  • What different issues should be addressed in the preparation of an environmental report

    Course Structure:
    This course includes:

  • Existing environmental assessment Guidelines & Procedures
  • Pakistan environmental assessment procedures-General and Sectoral Guidelines
  • Policy and procedures for filing, review and approval of environmental assessment
  • Format of the IEE
  • Main advantages and disadvantages of impact identification methods
  • Sectoral Guidelines for environmental reports-Textile Industries

    Delegate Assessment:
    There is no formal assessment except for some working exercises and discussions.

Prior Knowledge Requirements:

  • An understanding of report writing is desirable.
  • Understanding of general environmental issues and assessment is helpful

9. Title: Hazard Identification at Work place

The Delegates:
This one-day course is for all organizational personnel responsible for maintaining Environment, Health and Safety issues in an organization.

Expected Benefits from the Course:
The course should provide the delegates with the following:

  • The importance of identifying hazards in all types of businesses
  • An appreciation of benefits of hazards management
  • An ability to develop lists of hazards
  • A basic knowledge of legislation related to Hazardous Substances

    Course Structure:

  • Objectives of hazard identification and management
  • Developing lists of occupational hazards at a particular workplace and planning to control hazards.
  • Control and management of hazards
  • Using MSDSs and Personal Protective Equipments

Prior Knowledge Requirements:
Knowledge of environmental issues and Occupational Health and Safety Management is beneficial

10. Title: Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan.

The Delegates:
This one-day course is intended for staff of all levels in an organization that plan to set-up an Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) and/or planning to establish and implement emergency response plan.

Expected Benefits from the Course:
At the end of the course the delegates will have an understanding to:

  • Determine potential emergencies and their preventive techniques from occurring.
  • Making Emergency Response Plan for all types of emergencies
  • Implementing the existing plan in a more effective manner.

    Course Structure:
    In order to prevent and mitigate the environmental impacts associated with accidents and emergency situations, the personnel must be aware of how to respond in case of accident or emergency including mock drills for the fire emergency, so is the aim of this training.

    The course is designed with theoretical and practical exercises involving case studies, discussions and experienced problems which provides guidance for planning to deal emergencies situation.

Delegates will be assessed on the basis of their performance and participation throughout the course

11. Title: Environmental Legislation in Pakistan

The Delegates:
This one-day course is meant for those who wish to gain knowledge of current Environmental Legislation in Pakistan and/or intends their organization to comply with Environmental Legislation.

Expected Benefits from the Course:
The delegates will have a complete knowledge of existing Environmental Legislation in Pakistan and in turn will be able to comply with it in an effective manner. They will also be able to communicate with the Federal and Provincial Environmental Agencies for a certain environmental issue in their organization.

  • This course includes details of Environmental legislation and other regulatory requirements in Pakistan.
  • Pakistan Environmental Protection Act (1997)

12. Title: Hazardous & Non-Hazardous Waste Management

The Delegates:
This one-day course is for all management personnel responsible for the maintenance of solid and hazardous waste in their organization.

13. Title: Waste Water Management

The Delegates:
This one-day course is designed for all staff involved in the processes of an organization and their management.

  • Plant Managers and Supervisors

After completing the course the delegates will be able to

  • Implement Good Operating Practices for food handlers to simplify HACCP program and control hazards

This two-day course is designed for all who are involved in implementation and maintenance of OHSAS 18001 and carry out internal audit of Occupational Health & Safety management system.
